Canton Network is a 'Network of Networks'-based layer 1 blockchain designed to provide public blockchain interoperability and decentralized trust while meeting the stringent privacy requirements and regulatory compliance needs of financial institutions. Unlike existing blockchains that sacrifice privacy by revealing all transaction data to the entire network or give up interoperability by building a closed private chain, Canton Network implements 'need-to-know sharing' of data on-chain through the Daml smart contract language. Function: By explicitly defining transaction parties (Signatories) and observers (Observers), data is forced not to be physically transmitted to nodes other than those parties.

The “Estimated Price” box in Step 9 is a required item in the methodology, but in this report, it is treated as N/A: Price prediction excluded. The Canton Foundation explains that it is responsible for governance and supervision of the Canton Network's Global Synchronizer.

Rather than artificially lowering the maturity score, this strategy is closer to connecting institutional workflows with actual apps, fees, and burns. The biggest risk is not the absence of technology but the limitations of public verifiability. Privacy by design is Canton's product value, but at the same time it creates data asymmetry when external markets evaluate the network economy.
